Little Neon Door
Supermundane brings his joyful energy to Shoreditch
Rob Lowe (aka Supermundane) was commissioned by Full Fat Agency on behalf of Little Door & Co to create an original artwork for the double-fronted doors and giant planters of their new venue, Little Neon Door.
Founded in 2014 by Kamran Dehdashti and Jamie Hazeel, the idea behind Little Door & Co began as an attempt to create the perfect house party, a party where everyone's welcome, and anything can happen - from kitchen chats to dancing on the table tops. They have six venues across London, each with a different and strikingly bold coloured door. With their latest venture - Little Neon Door, it was the first time the team had commissioned an artist, and Rob’s bold shapes, bright colours and playful approach felt like the perfect fit for the energy of Shoreditch.
We take a look behind the scenes at the creative process, from the initial ideas and sketches through to the finished artwork, revealed at the venue’s launch party. A glimpse into how a simple idea can grow into a large-scale, joyful piece of work that brings colour and creativity to the streets of Shoreditch – and creates a new focal point for the community to enjoy.
Visit the Little Neon Door at: 91-92 Great Eastern St, London EC2A 3HZ to see Rob's work.

I'm a fan of applied art. A door feels like the ultimate in utilitarian art. Neon paint has energy. It fizzes in a way that normal paint can not.

The door is the first chance to give a sense of what might be going on inside the bar. It is joyous and energetic. An exciting taste of what is to come.

The design and colours of the doors are at a scale that can cope with all the visual chaos of Shoreditch that surrounds it. The Little Neon Door is on a junction, so there are many ways to view it. It was a pleasant surprise to see how well they work at a distance.
