COMMUNITY & WORKSHOPS

Super Community
Using creativity as a superpower

Rob Lowe (also known as Supermundane) believes creativity is in all of us and should be used to bring people together. He's an artist, illustrator, writer and public speaker – his creative career spans three decades, using line, colour and uplifting words for projects that centre joy, generosity and the human spirit.

As well as creating for brands, magazines and organisations as an illustrator, Rob leads community murals and workshops, championing co-creation and visual story-telling.

These practical workshops are for people of all ages, and don't just provide ways to engage with the process of making – participants are involved from the ideas right through to end result, ultimately putting something out into the world to be proud of.

I deconstruct my artwork so children can make their own versions, giving space for individual expression in a cohesive way. Artwork is displayed in their towns, creating a sense of pride that extends to family, friends and the town itself.

I use a technique with tape, that allows people of any age or ability to be involved in the painting of a mural with a professional end result. The community has a sense of ownership and pride, having been directly involved in its making.

The beauty of Rob's workshops is in the accessibility. Creativity can bring people together of all ages and abilities, resulting in something real and tangible that exists forever more.

In my type workshop, each attendee picks letters at random. The session can be themed or totally open, attendees choosing to make a harmonious font or work on their own letters independently. The letters can be made into a typeable font, emailed to everyone who made it afterwards.

My approach acts as a lens to present their town and artwork back to them in a celebratory way. Digital printing allows for more detail, colour and images such as photographs.
