NEW MATTER
The aptly named craft beer brand, Toast, are on a mission to brew beer with a twist - using excess bread from bakery’s as a more sustainable and planet conscious way to brew beer. Working with design agency Otherway, they commissioned Martha Olivia – who is currently on our 2023 Future Makers programme – to design four artworks with a focus on celebrating the natural beauty of the UK’s eco systems.
Representing the four different flavours, Martha was asked to create illustrations inspired by themes of earth, wind, fire and water.
Each design was carefully and intricately illustrated to evoke the energy of each element, whilst weaving in subtle details so that each time someone bought a beer, they’d notice something they hadn’t seen before. As well as the packaging, Martha’s designs were adapted to fit bar runners, t-shirts and other merchandise for Toast’s special launch night back
in November.
So, if you fancy sipping on a sustainably brewed beer and getting lost in Martha’s
artworks then keep your eyes peeled for the new Toast cans on shelves!
Inspired by the element of water, Martha's intricate design includes hidden underwater creatures amongst the waves and sea plants.
