The Art of Ping Pong

Joe was invited by Art of Ping Pong to contribute an original design for their latest charity auction to celebrate the opening of The Hoxton, Southwark.

The exhibition features bespoke ping pong paddles created by some of the world’s most exciting collage artists, with all money raised from the auction sales will being donated to local charities in Southwark as part of The Hoxton’s charity initiative, Good Neighbours.

Edited reference imagery Joe used in his design

For Joe’s design he sourced imagery from the 1990 Beijing Asian Games Table Tennis Women’s Team Final Korea vs China. He was immediately drawn to the graphic elements from the games, the kits, badges, logos, advertising hoarding, score card. He set out to to find two significant moments from these games to use for the bat, and wanted to elevate these moments in the celebration of the game.
