Since launching in 2013, the Future Spaces Foundation has undertaken a series of projects to rethink the spaces we inhabit, with an aim of making them more vibrant, sustainable and inclusive – with people always at the heart of what they do.

Each year they release a report exploring socio-economic, demographic and technological factors that affect the way we interact and operate as individuals and communities, and how we can shape the towns and cities of the future – each time through a different theme.
FSF 2019 Report Cover And Illustration
The theme of this year’s report is ‘Kinship in the City’, which looks at the idea of Urban Loneliness in the built environment through a series of thought-provoking essays, interviews and case studies.
Thomas was commissioned to illustrate the report through a set of detailed isometric artworks, each depicting different topics relating to the subject of each chapter in the report.

Smaller, individual scenes from each larger illustration were also isolated to create spot illustrations throughout the report.
About Thomas
Award winning visual artist Thomas Hedger mixes strong line work, geometric and fluid shapes, bold colour and often gradients creating punchy vector illustrations with ambience and beauty. His work takes the form of flat illustration for print and digital applications, as well as physical 3D installation and sculpture.
