NEW MATTER
Recently launched non-alcoholic wine brand, Wednesday's Domaine, enlisted the
brilliant Alec Doherty to help bring their bold new visual identity to life with his characterful illustrations.
Working alongside agency Kuba & Friends, and lettering artist Alec Tear, Wednesday's Domaine wanted to create an identity that celebrates the joy of enjoying a delicious glass of wine in the company of good people and great conversation. However, they believe that the joy of drinking wine doesn't have to come from intoxication, but rather from the ritual and process involved instead.
Adorning the front of each striking bottle is one of a set of charming people illustrated by Alec, framed within a bold 'W' which forms the body of each person enjoying a lovely glass of Wednesday's Domaine – meaning that when the bottles are lined up in a row, they form
a dinner party of colourful characters.
As well as the packaging and brand illustrations, Alec also created a key visual for the
brand's weekly newsletter Table Talk, which aims to deliver the very best of dinner table conversations straight into your inbox every Wednesday. Again, using the bold lettering of a 'TT' as the basis on which to form the illustration, Alec created a bustling dinner party scene with the typography acting as the table at the centre of the artwork.
In a growing industry of non-alcoholic alternatives, it's refreshing to see a product and brand that feels so well considered in every aspect, and not only centres on a delicious product but also on creating a brand and identity that you'd happily show off at a dinner party.
