Nicer Tuesdays

Artist Alec Doherty was invited by It's Nice That to speak at their monthly 'Nicer Tuesdays' event last week. Taking place at Oval Space in East London the last Tuesday of each month, four guests from across the creative industries take to the stage to talk about a recent landmark project of theirs, giving an insight into the ideas and processes behind it.

"

This was an affirmation for me that I was doing positive stuff. It was changing perceptions of what people thought I could do, and also changed my perception of myself.

– Alec, about his Stratford Olympic Park installation

As well as discussing the influence of his adolescent life on his practice and how it has become a reocurring theme in his work, Alec talked about how restlessness has been a constant in his career, but how it's allowed him to experiment with new methods of work, for example exploring sculpture and jewellery.
