50 years of Pride

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, we partnered with artist t-shirt printing platform Everpress to launch a curated collection of t-shirts designed by a select group of creatives and celebrating all things Pride.

Each design is available to order in the lead up to London Pride, with 50% of the profits from sales of each t-shirt going directly to the artist, and the other 50% being donated to akt to support the amazing work they do helping homeless LGBTQ+ youth.

My hope for the future is that one sexuality will stop having privilege over others, and it will no longer be necessary to affirm and defend different sexual orientations and gender identities.

Coming out can be a pretty lonely experience, so hopefully someone, somewhere will see this and it might help them to realise it really is ok to be gay, or bi, or trans and there is a community out there that you belong to & that will embrace you.

Using only on-screen red, green and blue colours I try to convey what pride means to me and how it comes down to self-love emanating from withine.

I tried to make a tribute to all the people, who still have to fight and march for their human right to simply be themselves without being discriminated against or criminalized.

It's 50 years since the Stonewall Riots. In many parts of the world people are still being persecuted for their gender identity and sexuality. My illustration is to remind people that Pride isn't one big party, yet.

When we feel love and kindness towards others, we also feel love and kindness towards ourselves, and nothing is better than feeling loved and accepted.

Growing up I’ve always loved flowers but was never confident enough to buy them for fear of it being interpreted as ‘feminine’ or ‘gay’. Now that I’ve been able to accept myself fully, I no longer let other people’s opinions get in the way of the things I enjoy.
