AistÄ— StancikaitÄ— is a Lithuanian artist, living and working in Berlin. Her practice centers around pencil drawing with a focus on detail and texture, maintaining a careful balance between abstract and figurative. Using her signature single colour drawing approach, AistÄ— explores the perception of reality through the world of red-hued figures often featured in her drawings.
Aistė works on a wide range of commercial projects with clients such as Apple, Instagram, Dior and Porsche, amongst others, whilst also developing her personal art practice. Aistė’s work has been recognised with several awards, including the ADC Annual Awards and Communication Arts, as well as exhibited internationally.

Combining detailed pencil drawing with photography can really help to create broad, multi-layered narratives.

In my work, naturalistic proportions, elements of the present-day and fashion act as a reminder of real life, yet the carefully chosen styling and colour create a new world. I let the viewer question whether they are seeing something that truly exists or purely works of fiction.

By introducing bold colour, abstract patterns and unusual crops into my drawings, I'm inviting the viewer to explore the image without any preconceptions of subject matter.

I love finding parallels between the human body and nature, bringing them together to create unexpected compositions.

I believe that gender balance and equality means the right to truly be yourself. I chose to move away from the stereotypical signs of gender identification to show what's really underneath it all - a human being.
