Vural
Award winning illustrator, Gizem Vural, lives and works in New York. Her colourful compositions play with geometric abstraction and hand drawn shapes and forms, taking inspiration from sound, nature and architecture, as well as her surroundings on Roosevelt Island. Clients include The New Yorker, The New York Times, Apple and Bloomberg to name but a few, and her work lends itself to everything from editorial pieces through to fashion and branding.

"
Crowded streets, flood of movement, seeing many different kinds of fashion choices, all that is inspired by the big city of New York. Even the birds are busy walking with you on the roads.
"
Moving to New York City inspired me to use the tall buildings and grid shapes in my work more –they create the city atmosphere in my illustrations.
"
In the free time between works I create more abstract stuff, like breaking my drawings down into a language of shapes, lines and composition that still communicates with the audience. I like pushing ideas and trying different ways to use my work.
"
I enjoy taking ideas into pure graphical language that resembles a musical sound. It's all about movement and energy I can give to my still artwork, like jazz music, ups and downs, harmony of different instruments, like shapes and lines.
"
I like playing around with the soft texture of color pencils, while sometimes it is all digital, it still carries the traditional marks. I love experimenting with layers and composition to make my work more striking.
