NEW MATTER
After the first national lockdown hit the UK earlier this year, the London transport
system had most likely not ever been so quiet as people were ordered to stay at home
unless absolutely necessary in order to help prevent the further spread of coronavirus.
Ready for (the first) lockdown ending, Transport for London wanted to ease people into using public transport again and at the same time remind everyone to have a bit more patience and generally be nicer to other passengers at what is an unusually stressful and anxious time
for everyone.
Working with ad agency VCCP, illustrator Toby Triumph was enlisted to work on a series of vibrant and uplifting adverts depicting various ways we can all be more considerate when using the transport system.
Known for his vibrant illustrations and bold, uplifting typography, Toby was the perfect fit to convey the tone of the campaign and bring some much needed colour to Greater London.
Keep your eyes peeled when using public transport around London because Toby's
colourful designs can be seen all over the city, in formats ranging from small posters to
huge billboards, with more of his designs being rolled out across the city over the next year.
Toby's designs were each brought to life through some simple animation.
